Russia's Transneft posts 7.7 pct drop in net profit in first nine months
just now (144+ words) Saturday, 29 Nov 2025 MOSCOW, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- The net profit for Russia's oil pipeline operator Transneft fell by 7.7 percent year over year in the first nine months of 2025, TASS news agency reported on Friday. From January to September, Transneft registered a net profit of 232.7 billion rubles (around 3 billion U.S. dollars) as calculated under the international financial reporting standards, according to the report. Transneft attributed the decline primarily to increased income tax expenses. Beginning Jan. 1, 2025, the corporate income tax rate was raised from 20 percent to 25 percent, while for Transneft, the rate was increased to 40 percent through 2030. Heathrow Third Runway: £33bn M25 Tunnel Plan Puts Ancient Village of Harmondsworth at Risk
1+ min ago (1225+ words) Under the chosen plan, Heathrow would build a new 3.5km (2.2mile) runway to the northwest of the existing airport. The runway would physically cross the M25, requiring a section of the UK's busiest motorway to be diverted about 130 metres west and buried in a new tunnel beneath the expanded airfield. [3] If built, the third runway would boost Heathrow's capacity from roughly 84million passengers a year to around 150million, allowing up to 756,000 flights annually " roughly 760 more takeoffs and landings every day in the skies around London. [5] Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander has argued that HAL's proposal is the "most deliverable" option, capable of securing a development consent order by 2029 and opening the runway by around 2035, in line with Labour chancellor Rachel Reeves's pledge to finally "end decades of uncertainty" over Heathrow's expansion. [6] The most dramatic engineering element of the plan is its treatment of the M25. Instead of…...

Health News | Miracle Material's Hidden Quantum Power Could Transform Future Electronics: Study
2+ min ago (484+ words) Gottingen [Germany], November 29 (ANI): Researchers have directly observed Floquet effects in graphene for the first time, settling a long-running scientific debate. Their ultrafast light-based technique demonstrates that graphene's electronic properties can be tuned almost instantaneously. This paves the way for custom-engineered quantum materials and new approaches in electronics and sensing. Also Read | Thanksgiving 2025: This Thanksgiving, Let's Choose To Keep Turkeys off Our Plates and Show Our Kindness to Those in Need. Graphene is a remarkable form of carbon, built from a single layer of tightly connected atoms that is only one atom thick. Despite its thinness, it is highly stable and conducts electricity extremely well. Because of these qualities, graphene is considered a "miracle material" and is already being explored for flexible electronic screens, highly sensitive sensors, advanced batteries, and next-generation solar cells. Space weather grounds the Airbus A320 family
2+ min ago (530+ words) On 28 November 2025, Airbus'advised airlines of a risk in the computers aboard the Airbus A320 Family triggered by recent solar storms. The company directed about half of the 12,321 A319, A320, and A321 variants flying today not to fly until the problem had been address. The problem is addressed for most by rolling back the most recent software update to the elevator-aileron computers, a process that requires a few hours to complete and verify. More than 1,000 aircraft will require hardware changes according to Reuters. Elevators and ailerons are movable surfaces on an aircraft that control its attitude in flight. The'elevator, located on the horizontal stabilizer at the rear of the fuselage, allows the pilot to pitch the nose up to climb or down to descend. Ailerons'are hinged surfaces near the wingtips that move in opposite directions: when one goes up, the other goes down. This changes…...
